HEALTHCARE

Chiang Mai offers access to excellent healthcare facilities and has made it a popular destination for medical tourism.

Hospitals in Chiang Mai are very good, with international private hospitals, competent government hospitals, and speciality clinics. Healthcare in urban Thailand is also surprisingly affordable when considering the level of care received.  Ping Wali is located next to the international standard Bangkok Hospital, a private care facility, while Maharaj Hospital is one of the top government hospitals. At these Chiang Mai hospitals the healthcare and facilities are considered by expats to be on a par with, or even sometimes better than, what they receive at home.  Medical treatments and procedures, as well as general healthcare can cost as little as 10% of what one would pay at a premier western hospital.
